Preventing Cancer

Cancer prevention activities are actions taken to lower the risk of getting cancer. This includes but not limited to: increasing physical activity, getting vaccines to prevent some types of cancer, getting regular screenings, eating a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking, limiting substance use, and protecting oneself from UV rays and limiting the use of tanning beds.

Preventing Cancer is the cornerstone of this page. We can reduce our cancer risk by changing habits, getting regular checkups and making lifestyle changes.
